Competition: 2016 SUDC上海城市设计挑战赛 Award: 3rd Prize ResilientLINK proposal for Xujiahui Sports Park won the 3rd Prize in 2016 Shanghai Urban Design Challenge held by Shanghai Municipal Planning Bureau. Together with LIU Xun (GSD MLA 17'), CUI Muhan (PennDesign MLA 15', SASAKI), JIANG Wenqian (PennDesign MLA 17'), LIULIU (MIT MCP 15'), the team proposed a multi-dimensional platform to intervene the population flows with commercial, entertainment, exercising programs. #Award #urba

Waishan QIU develops a interactive online mapping interface and framework for "DEVELOPING LITTORAL GRADIENT" project. The research is about coastal Chinese Cities' reclamation based real estate developments. Prof. Brent Ryan and lecturer Fadi Masaud were the PI. Porous Neighborhood | Resilient Urban Design Proposal in Florida Urban Design Studio 2015, mentored by Prof. Adele Santos, Prof. Alan Berger and Fadi Masaud was presented and got positive feedback from engineers and officials from Broward County. Working on the Book "Rural-Urbanism" at MIT Center for Advanced Urbanism
Waishan works at Project Assistant with Prof. Adele Santos and Prof. Rafi Segal on their new design research book Rural-Urbanism. It is a continuous work as the 2016 IAP MIT-SEU Nanjing Workshop. Several villages around the world are re-mapped in the book as comparative case studies.
