Female passengers contribute to at least 65% of the total taxi trips, including those trips whose gender cannot be identified. Within the segment of identified records, female contributes to 82% of the total travels in 2016 in Riyadh. Although the taxi trips are only a very small portion of the commute demand in Riyadh, the empirical statistic still supports the fact that females in Riyadh relied more on taxis as a result of being banned from driving. The average cost 53 SR per trip is far beyond the affordability buffer estimated for different income levels by all employment sectors (30% of monthly income by job sectors, roughly should be less than 36 SR per trip).
